I currently work for Great Yarmouth Borough Council in the role of Senior Web Developer. I am a team leader, working with two other developers and I am responsible to the IT Development Manager. I also work closely with our Web Communications Manager based in the Communications service.

I have been in my current post since February 2008. I was previously responsible for communications and web based systems in the GYBC Tourism department and for the Greater Yarmouth Tourist Authority. I am currently involved in the redevelopment of the corporate website and have a responsibility for back-end, web based systems throughout the Authority which include our Content Management System (CMS), Corporate Intranet and Councillors Extranet.

I am passionate about social media, ICT enabled change, social communication and engagement. I am keen to learn about the business benefits of these tools and how they can provide information and improve communication between the Authority and its customers. I am currently reading a vast array of books focusing on the subjects of social media, collaboration, engagement, productivity and communication.

I’ve been building online applications and websites for around 8 years and these have been anything from basic HTML websites and CRM system to an asset management system and custom CMS. My skillset includes PHP, MySQL, SQL Server, ASP.NET 3.5, HTML/XHTML, Javascript and standards based development.

I have recently been involved in business and requirements analysis as well as achieving the ITIL IT Service Management v3 Foundation qualification. I am currently working towards achieving BSc in Information and Communications Technologies with the Open University.
